Hello Henda,,
Don't worry,, don't be confused,, here is the answer :) ,, actually both means the weather, BUT the word AL6AQS is specified to describe the weather as cold or warm...
The word ALJAW describes the environment around you as good, sad or happy as well as cold or warm,, so ALJAW is more general than AL6AQS.
I hope this answers you :) .

salamo alaykoom
great explanation brother Ehab

****al-jaw can be use to mean= 1- atmosphere 2- weather 3- social and pshycologic human situation.. sad / happy.. calm/nervous.. cold/hot/warm..
and the quetion is: kayfa howa aljaw? or kayfa hya al-ajwaa2 ? or kayfa hya al-7alato aljawya? and all the quetions have the same meaning (( how is the weather?)) and you can use happy /sad.. calm/nervous.. warm/cold/hot..
****al-6aqs can be used to mean= weather and also many arabs use it to mean climate but this is wrong climate in classic arabic is monaa7' ... also al-6aqs can be use in arabic to mean ceremonial

i hope that i didn't confuse you more lol.
