Lessons #3,6, and 7

Postby Serena12 » Mon Aug 31, 2009 6:46 pm

Hello,

Combining information from some of the beginner lessons (specifically # 3 “Where’s Jameela?”, # 6 “My house” and #7 “What are you doing tonight?”) I was wondering if one could say

ذهب أبي معي إلى سوق

to mean “My father went with me to the shops”? :?:

شكراً

Hi Serena,

yes, I think that's correct, the only thing I'd say in a different way is
ذهب أبي معي إلى السوق
because I think what you want to say is that you were going to the market (a a specific one) and by saying
ذهب أبي معي إلى سوق
you would only say that you were going to some market, maybe one you don't even know yourself.
